and only around election time. and now, most gasoline has ethanol blended into it, which is less fuel-efficient, more harmful to the environment, and drives up the price of corn which should be used for food.

so, in the long run, gas has gone up $0.35 or so a gallon since he was “re-elected.”

  • Sheldon Lockhart

    Time to face the truth….

  • charliehall

Yeah, US oil production is at record levels, and the US is only barely behind Saudi Arabia as a producer today. Yet Obama gets blasted for being anti-energy? Go figure.

The highest ever average gasoline price recorded by AAA was $4.11, in July 2008. The President was George W. Bush. The average is now $3.19. I don’t know where the right panel comes from.

  • xNarrowPathx

Would you rather fill up your tank once at $4, or for years at ~$3.50? No wonder the left always tanks the economy.

  • charliehall

Who was President when the economy tanked in 2008? Oh, right.

And it is only because prices are high and stable that it is possible to produce as much. Bring gasoline prices down to $1/gallon and Texas and Oklahoma become third world countries.

  • Thom Clark

No look at the Average price during all of Bush’s time and during Obama’s time. One spike doesn’t mean anything. Prices were consistently LOWER under Bush than Obama. Liberals really need to get off that $4 kick. At the end of his time it was $1.98, but quickly rose under Obama, and stayed at a higher level.

  • Thom Clark

Prices rose and fell, yet Texas and Oklahoma have always been just fine. Sorry, but your exaggeration doesn’t cut it.

  • xNarrowPathx

Do we have a dictatorship? Who was in control of Congress when the economy tanked in 2008? Oh right…

  • charliehall

Prices dropped because the economy tanked and nobody wanted to buy gasoline. I guess since you are a Bush defender, you like the idea of a third world economy, which is where we would have ended up had Obama not turned things around.

  • charliehall

You obviously don’t remember what happened in the mid 1980s when the price of oil collapsed. OK, TX, and also LA faced fiscal and social disaster as the oil boom went bust.

  • charliehall

You can’t blame the Dems for the extreme laissez-faire policies that Bush had promoted for 7 1/2 years and were powerless to reverse. Fortunately Obama reversed them.

  • charliehall

Scientists like me have been saying that ethanol is a bad idea for a very long time. But as long as Iowa is a swing state it will be mandated.

  • xNarrowPathx

Lol you are a hopeless soul. Those extreme laissez-faire policies that continued and increased market regulations? I want some of whatever you’re smoking. Was it those same extreme laissez-faire policies of Reagan that led to the disaster of the 80’s and 90’s? Oh… wait…

  • Thom Clark

ROFLMAO Obama hasn’t turned ANYTHING around. He’s made things worse. You REALLY need to get out into the real world and away from the Fantasy land you’re living in.

  • Thom Clark

LOL right. Pardner, you are an idiot.
Stop being an Obama cheerleader, it’s showing the extent of your ignorance.

The performance of the US oil industry is in spite of Obama’s policies rather than because of them. I say this with confidence: you cannot name a single thing that this President has done that could even plausibly account for US oil production rising. He has been a consistent and even vocal enemy to the oil industry.

There are things a President can do that will help US industry, and despite the persistent, irrational hatred of America’s left, doing them would be a good thing for America. Barack Obama has not done them.

Give it a freaking rest. You’re engaged in the worst sort of magical thinking: “X is President, therefore X did it!!”

Leftists are like little children in this manner; they are absolutely incapable of analyzing anything, and cannot think beyond the classical fallacy.

The same thinking would lead them to say that because the sun rises after the rooster crows, it was the rooster that brought up the sun. Only, doing so in that context would not allow them partisan gloating, so they neglect to apply their “logic” to that scenario. Go figure.

    “Extreme laissez-faire policies?”

Oh, do please, please list those “extreme” policies for us. Please.

  • xNarrowPathx

You know… those policies that let people make decisions of their own volition. EXTREME! /sarcasm :)

  • xNarrowPathx

It’s only the rooster if I love the rooster! Otherwise, it’s those damn hens!
